Today we learned about Emily Dickinson, her impact on modern poetry, and analyzed/annotated her poem on a deep level. This assignment taught me how to think deeply about what I read.
Today we had the task of analyzing and breaking down an article, and answering questions about it. The questions were answered on illuminate, and there were 14 questions given. I think the article was pretty interesting, and I enjoyed learning about the effects of habitual video game playing on youth. I would like to learn more about the symptoms though.
In today’s class we annotated an article about the dress code that’s being enforced in a Texan school district. We were told to highlight/underline important parts, circle unknown words, and ask questions about the text. On the back we were told to predict what we thought the article would be about based on it’s title. When we got back from lunch, we were each given a question to answer using the text. This lesson taught how to breakdown confusing texts and organize thoughts you may have about them.
My name is Charles, and the main goals I have for this American Lit course are: becoming a more effective, polished writer, being able to deeply analyze texts, and ultimately obtaining an A+ in the class. I also have a one main expectation for this class which is being in a fun, equally engaged environment. I think I liked the makeup of the sixth period class a lot more though, and am hoping to be able to switch back.
