 In class we read a poem called The Great Figure. I read the poem then had to draw a picture on the images we were able to visualize while reading. I drew a picture of a red fire truck with a siren, the number five on it, and rain. I then answered questions about the poem. The poem had lots of imagery but it was also very short which created room for many possible interpretations of it.

Today, we continued what we were doing on Friday. We analyzed Hughes’ poems, and wrote down the themes, evidence, arguments, and unanswered questions of each. It seemed like it would be easy, and was at first, but it gradually got harder after each poem. I, too was probably the hardest to complete for me. Today we were also met with some tragic news involving three students in the Lakeside community.

Reflection (11/13)

 Today, Mr. Rease had a substitute, the sub had a very thick accent and it was hard understanding who's name he was attempting at pronouncing in during roll call. We were given a worksheet on the short story we started last week by James Baldwin. The worksheet was pretty straightforward and simple, so I completed it fairly quickly.
