Reflection (9/22)

Today’s class was shortened to 30 mins because of the HOCO pep rally. We basically reviewed the rhetorical appeals, and also analyzed a mock trial. We had to break down the case to determine if the person was going to found guilty or not guilty. This taught us about the importance of giving evidence, and thinking through your presented information when making an argument. We ended class with a video from the OJ Simpson case.

  Today we read and annotated a poem called The Negro Speaks of Rivers  by Langston Hughes. In the poem Hughes talks in a first person point of view but is actually speaking for/as black people as a whole. This poem talks about the black race being as ancient as a river, as we were the first race of people. He names rivers historically significant to contributions made by black people to help illustrate his message.

4/9/24

 I started my spring break by going to a track meet at Morehouse College and spent the night out with some friends. We then went to Panama City Beach/Seaside together. There was a lot of people from Lakeside there, and it was a lot of fun. There was some drama though. Overall, the best spring break I’ve had in a while, and it was a lot of fun being away from my parents for such a “long time”.

Write About Something You Can't Deny

We all need water, through 'plain water' or any form of liquid. Human intake of H2O is very important in more ways than just quenching thirst. Water helps your body regulate it's temperature, and balance your pH. Even deeper on a molecular level, the consumption of water assists the brain in the creation and use of certain hormones and transportation of toxins out of cells.
