Reflection (9/29)

Today we finished the American Lit benchmark essay and submitted our work. I was able to finish it all even though I wasn’t sure if I could. Mr. Rease was also back today.

Reflection(9/28)

Today Mr. Rease was not at school, and we had a sub. She didn’t have an unnecessary attitude like some other subs, so that was definitely a positive. I got to class a little late again because of dual enrollment, but hopefully next week I will start to be able to come earlier. The assignment was in a very old, tattered workbook. We had to define some words, and make/finish some sentences using them. Later I have a cross country meet that Im pretty excited for.

Reflection (9/26)

Today we continued working on the American Lit Benchmark. Finished/got close to finishing our essay question, and were told Mr. Rease wont be at school Thursday, so we’ll have a substitute.

Reflection (9/25)

We began a benchmark today on Illuminate. Pretty easy, except for the essay response question. The whole class was given until Friday to complete it because of the essay question. It was a very good day today, pretty chill class in terms of work.

Reflection (9/15)

We had a fire drill pretty soon into the class, not sure the point of having a drill like every other week, but I’m sure its for good reason. We were given a test over Emily Dickinson, her personal life and her poems, I think the questions were very hard, and a lot had multiple answer choices that looked like they could've been correct. Got kind of stressed about time after the fire drill, but we were given an extension.

Reflection (9/14)

We continued our Emily Dickinson poem quote analyzations. I wasn’t able to complete them all though. Had some difficulty breaking some of them down, the language in a lot of her quotes is hard to understand. Overall, today was a good day though, and I am happy with how I did.

Reflection (9/12)

Today, we began working on an Emily Dickinson quote analysis assignment. We were to work on analyzing, finding the theme, and the potential negatives of thinking the way of each quote. I found this task very hard for some reason, I believe it was mostly because of the fact that I had multiple interpretations of each quote.

Reflection (9/22)

Today’s class was shortened to 30 mins because of the HOCO pep rally. We basically reviewed the rhetorical appeals, and also analyzed a mock trial. We had to break down the case to determine if the person was going to found guilty or not guilty. This taught us about the importance of giving evidence, and thinking through your presented information when making an argument. We ended class with a video from the OJ Simpson case.

Reflection(9/21)

In today’s American Lit class, I actually got to class on time due to it being picture day. Mr. Rease showed us some ads made by major companies. We had to determine the main rhetorical appeal in each, as well as the audience. It was cool to learn about how companies basically ‘subliminally’ market their products in a way that will get them the most sales.  Definitely was a fun lesson today.

Reflection (9/19)

In today’s lesson, we learned about all of the aspects that are needed to be implemented to effectively argue. We learned about the three rhetorical devices and what they do as well.

Reflection (9/18)

Today I arrived to class a little late due to dual enrollment. We had a substitute, and were given the task of defining a couple of words. The task was very tedious, but google couldn't have made it easier. The terms weren’t anything I’d never heard, so I’m looking forward for the upcoming vocab quiz with this. set of words.

Reflection Sep. 11, 2023

Today, we had a couple of people present their interpretations of Emily Dickinson’s poems. Hearing how much emotion and deep thought she puts in all of her poems and structures it is very impressive. We then retook our Origin Myth quiz. I think I misinterpreted the meaning of an answer to the fifth question of it though l, which led to my grade of an 83.3%.
