Today we took an assessment on “A Rose for Emily”. The test wasn’t too hard. I struggled a bit on certain questions though. This is the last entry for this class and am very anxious about the impending end of the school year. This is my last real summer as a high schooler coming up, and am nervous about college admissions, nonetheless, I know that through my connections and resume I will get into good schools. Focusing on a lot of self improvement and improving habits as well this summer.

Today we read more of “A rose for Emily”. We learned how Ms Emily is simply just an old lady that probably never got to live and experience the world due to her dad treating her badly. This made me realize how many other people are out in the world like this that have no life skills and nobody to help them in the outside world. The discussion questions today were very easy.

In today's class, we delved into the initial segment of "A Rose for Emily," which set a mysterious ambiance with its funeral scene. We collectively explored the story. The narrative was intriguing, and I'm eager for the author to unveil more about Miss Emily. Following this, I began answering the discussion questions.

In class we read a poem called The Great Figure. I read the poem then had to draw a picture on the images we were able to visualize while reading. I drew a picture of a red fire truck with a siren, the number five on it, and rain. I then answered questions about the poem. The poem had lots of imagery but it was also very short which created room for many possible interpretations of it.

In class we were given guidelines to complete visual poems. First we had to find an image we wanted to make our poems about (I chose a lone oak tree). I chose this picture not to sound lazy, but because I thought it would be the easiest to make a poem about because there’s multiple ways you could directly interpret it. My poem focused on the importance of solitude and the beauty in nature.

Today, we worked on a slideshow presentation on our desired future careers and colleges. The project was simple, as it was based off our prior assignments, in which we picked a career and college to attend. We also had to insert images corresponding with the information. I put a lot of effort into mine to kind of use as a potential vision board in the future.
